Dear Adventure Motorcyclists

It is truly amazing how motorcycling brings people together and in the most cases brings out the best in people. I just returned from a 16 day motorcycle tour. On the first day of the tour. I looked around at the rest of the motorcycle group and thought: How on earth are all these people going to get along?! We were all very different people from completley different walks of life.

My fears vanished at the first stop the next day. One guy had ridden through a toll gate a littleĀ  too pre-maturely. The boom gate came down on him. Him and his bike were completely fine, but the toll gate was completely ripped off its hinges (now who wants to argue that a BMW GS is not an extraordinarily engineered machine?)

That was it for our group- we were bonded from then on out. Every time we came to a stop after a spectacular
mountain pass or just missed hitting a haphazard cow walking across the road, we would share our storiesĀ and laugh together. On the long hard days we supported each other and on the good days we swapped our motorcycle stories.
Motorcycling acts like a equalizing factor and brings people together, and there is no better way to see a country then
by riding with a group of like minded travelers.

We hope to see you on one of our South African Motorcycle Adventures soon, and until then, Avoid taking out toll gates!
