South African currency is known as the Rand and is represented with an “R”. One rand is broken up into one hundred cents.
We currently have 5 different money notes marked with the faces of the Big Five: R10-Rhino,R20- elephant, R50-Lion, R100-Buffalo and R200-Leopard.

Cash in South Africa is made easily available through ATM’S (Cash machines) and most developed establishments have credit card facilities.
The best money to travel with in South Africa is The South African Rand (Dollars are not accepted) Do not worry if you do not have “Rands”. There are foreign exchange offices throughout South Africa and at all International Airports.
Banks are usually open between 9 AM AND 3:30 PM from Monday to Friday and Saturdays between 9 & 11AM.
