RIDING YOUR HEAVY GS BIKE ON GRAVEL ROADS!!! |
|
|
|
When on tour, you sometimes have to get OFF THE BEATEN TRACK and take a gravel road that leads to a breath taking waterfall or an ancient 3000 year old Baobab tree or any of the thousands of wonders that our great country South Africa has to offer!!!
|
|
|
|
| |
The main objective is to get you and your bike there safely as most of these places are in remote areas and there are no BMW workshops or paramedics nearby !!!!!
There is nothing worse than falling off your GS and injuring yourself on the first day of your tour.
Two ways of riding your heavy GS bike on gravel roads. Click for more information.
1 – The correct way (For advanced riders who have completed an off road course)
2 – The safe way (For tourists or novice riders who would like to get from point A-B in one piece)

I would like to say a big Hi to everyone and take this opportunity to introduce myself.
I started working here at SAMA tours end of January in place of Nicole. Most of you know Nicole so let me assure you that she is doing well and is having a great time on her travels and adventures living life to the fullest.
I have a diploma in Adventure Tourism Management and am currently doing my degree. I have a love for the outdoors and travelling. Some of you have already had the great fortune of corresponding with me, and I with you.
I will strive to keep you informed and answer all your queries to the best of my ability and ensure that your MOTORCYCLE TRIP OF A LIFE TIME goes with no or as little hiccups as possible with the help of everyone here at SAMA headquarters.
My personal motto is a quote from Arthur. C. Clarke: 'The only way to discover the limits of the possible is to go beyond them into the impossible.'

SAMA recently went river rafting down the Sabie river in Hazy view. A great time was had by all, navigating around rocks and enjoying the splash of the cool water on a hot summers day.
Darryl put on quite a show, when he did a back flip off the raft in the one rapid (with style, might I add) while his wife Anne knew none the better and was quite stunned when she saw her husband floating by.
SAMA motorcycle tours are not only about riding motorcycles on our great roads with twisting mountain passes with picture perfect scenery but also about the optional extra adventures to be had along the way.
Most of our tours have rest days where you have the opportunity to do one of our many add on adventure activities. White river rafting is the newest one added to the list of:
- Elephant back riding - Tree top canopy touring
- Shark cage diving - Bungee jumping
- Horse riding - Bridge swinging
- Whale watching - Big 5 safari’s
- Quad biking - Now do not forget the pub crawling!!!
- Croc cage diving
- Microlighting
