News from the road:

2016 got off to an exciting start!

For our New Year ’s Eve celebrations the whole Sama Team was in Lesotho bringing in the New Years from the Highest Pub in Africa! A major highlight of the trip was riding the infamous Sani Pass into Lesotho. Sani Pass is a gravel road that rises from 1500 metres to 3000 metres above sea level- in only 20 kilometers!! The last 7kms of road consists of extremely steep gravel switchbacks leading you up into the sky. The views were breath-taking in every direction- rolling hills, rocky outcrops, waterfalls and tiny rivers.
This is just one of the exciting OPTIONAL dirt roads we offer on our standard guided tours that normally take place 100% on good tarmac/bitumen roads. If you would like to ride Sani Pass with us day- check out our 35 Day Kilimanjaro to Cape Town Tour

In February 2016 we did our famous Garden Route Tour with bikers from all over the world including Israel, Germany, England and America. On the Garden Route Tour we also explored Lesotho- but this time it was the on the Tarmac. We took the road to Katze dam which has more turns within 70km then any other road in Africa. This road in known fondly to us as “The Alps of Africa”. From Lesotho the tour carried on down to the coast and then through the Garden Route all the way to Cape Town, where we bid goodbye to some happy bikers on day 12!

In March 2016 we had 12 Riders and 6 Pillions on the 17 Day Best South African Roadtrip Ever, which travels from Pretoria through Swaziland and all the way along the coastline to Cape Town.
Mick Matheson (The editor in chief of Roadrider Magazine Australia) was on the trip with us and he has written an exciting article about the tour which will feature in the August copy of Roadrider. There is also a video about the ride in the pipeline- due to be out very soon. In the meantime, he Roadrider crew created a little teaser video about a monkey called Jozi.  What is a monkey doing on a Motorcycle tour you may ask? Jozi was the team mascot on the tour. Every night over dinner- The JOZI awards would take place and Jozi would be “Awarded” to the rider who deserved him most. You can check out Jozi’s motorcycle adventure through South Africa on our Facebook page

Elephant Traffic Jam

At the moment we have 8 Bikers incluiding Australians, Germans, South African’s and one Irishman on our 22 Day Victoria Falls Tour. The group is in Namibia at the moment, but so far have had a great time seeing elephants on the side of the road in Botswana, enjoying a breakfast cruise on the Chobe River, quad biking in the Sand dunes of Namibia  and flying helicopters over Victoria Falls (Of course the Irishman went in a microlight)

Vic Falls Fun

Most of our tours for the rest of 2016 are fully booked, however we still have a few places left on our 32 Day Cape To Kilimanjaro Tour in July and 35 Day Kilimanjaro to Cape Town Tour in August. These are two tours that you do not want to miss out on and we are offering discount off both departures. (15% discount on the up trip and 20% discount on the down trip)

In December 2016 we still have several places on our 12 Day Ultimate African Experience Tour taking place from the 02 -14 December 2016 . The Ultimate African Experience Tour is one of our most affordable tours (Prices starting at AU$4380) and this IS THE best way to see South Africa by motorcycle- in less than two weeks. Check it out online.

That is all for this month. We hope to see you on the road soon!!

Ride safe and ride often

Kindest Regards,

The Sama Team
